The photo that got me into shooting HDR landscape photography is Trey Ratcliff's photo from Times Square. On my first visit to NYC I wanted to recreate what had originally inspired me as an homage to Trey's original work. This was taken at dawn on my first morning in NYC. You can see Good Morning America being filmed to the left.
The Shard, the tallest building in the European Union, was nearing completion when this photo was taken in December 2011. This view is from Tower Bridge and I was lucky that the clouds started to disperse just as I was walking across the bridge.
I gave a print of this photo to my Grandad for his birthday as this is the area he worked in before retiring. Here is what he had to say about it: "The older building in the right foreground is the Port of London building, just to the left of it is the LLoyds building. I started work in The City in 1955 when my office was in Fenchurch St which runs parallel to the river and between the P.L.A.building and LLoyds. For many years I parked my car alongside the P.L.A.building, no meters or any other charges in those happy days."
